About Me
I was born in JHB South Africa and began painting as a young mum in the 80’s.
My guide was an extraordinary painter / teacher named Deline Lottering. My original works are abstract mixed-media collages, using rich colours, ink, pastels, and gold-leaf on paper. My work now is multi-layered, some layers covering whole areas, while others remain like see-through spaces.
I do love abstract expression, and in my attempt to achieve something illusive, I feel that a ghostly, other-worldly quality seems to intrude into my work. Painters who have captured my imagination, are Christian Hook, Gerhard Richter, Odillon Redon, to name a few.
My work is changing & evolving, the more recents are predominantly textured in effect, and are a constant work-in-progress. When I study a work of art, I try to have an open mind, and think: this is touching me in a surprising & interesting way. Personally, I enjoy varied reactions from viewers, and like to get a gut-response from others, which stimulate & encourage me.
